POC NL #26 - Where the rubber meets the road
A few weeks have passed since the last newsletter. A lot has happened including a wonderful vacation with my entire family. I have also been searching for a simple way for you to contact your elected officials. I believe I have found it.
We can no longer take our liberties for granted nor can we trust that our elected officials will always do the right thing. This is not to impugn them so much as recognize they are but a cross section of our society who has little knowledge of the limits our Constitution places on the federal government in order to protect our freedoms. They also want to get reelected so they are more concerned about the political pressures brought to bear than they are about their Constitutional restraints, their responsibility to maintain the separation of powers, our founding values, our culture, and so many other things our liberties depend on.
Our founders knew that our citizens must stay involved if we are to maintain our freedoms.
John Adams wrote in the Massachusetts Constitution, Art. VII:
"Government is instituted for the common good...the people alone have an incontestable, unalienable, and indefeasible right to institute government; and to reform, alter, or totally change the same, when their protection, safety, prosperity, and happiness require it."
The people, however, MUST stay on top of government (our elected officials) for this to work.
Samuel Adams said:
"It does not take a majority to prevail ... but rather an irate, tireless minority, keen on setting brushfires of freedom in the minds of men."
We must be that tireless, irate, passionate group of citizens tired of seeing our nation in moral decline, our culture being destroyed, our values trashed, and our Constitution ignored.
We need to be the ones to turn up the heat on our elected officials so they can see the light!
In Federalist Paper No. 2, John Jay said:
“… God gave this one connected country to one united people - a people descended from the same language, professing the same religion, attached to the same principles of government, very similar in manners and customs. …
“This country and this people seem to have been made for each other. It appears like this inheritance was designed by God for a band of brethren united by the strongest ties. They should never split into a number of un-social, jealous, and alien sovereignties.”
Federalist Papers in Modern Language, by Mary E. Webster, pg. 20

Our country has never been more divided and it is getting worse. Immigrants are flooding across our southern borders by the thousands. They are not assimilating into our culture or our language. They are loyal to Mexico and their families who were left behind. There are as many as 20,000 Latino youth in a single street gang in Los Angeles, hospitals are near shutdown, schools are over crowded, and there is a growing bold and aggressive movement to take California and other western states back to Mexico. This is all occurring because our federal government will not do its job of protecting our borders and instituting reasonable immigration policy. They are more afraid of these immigrants and their growing political power than they are of us.
THIS MUST CHANGE!
The courts are part of the problem like they are in so much of our social meltdown.
The court’s reinterpretation of the 14th Amendment’s Citizenship Clause, creating anchor babies, has exacerbated much of the above problems.
Please click on the link below to send a pre-written and pre-addressed email to your elected officials. I have discussed the content of this email with staff members of several congressional offices. I believe it will be effective if sent in large numbers. Politics is power and this power can only be gained through large numbers.
